Participants of Mildred?s Lane TOWN session present an evening of experimental actions inspired by their experience on site at Mildred?s Lane and in TOWN. Group dynamics, song, presence of mind, literal and metaphorical bridges, the distinction between town and country, and witches are among the possible topics of exploration. Participating artists have concocted a series of prompts, to be drawn at random and spontaneously enacted using select props and tools that have been set out in the space. This experimental formula mixes chance with intention, inviting the unexpected to occur. The artists hope that visitors to join in these group activities, deepening the possibilities for group engagement and collective experience.
The TOWN sessions include a series of workshops and interventions on Main Street USA with contributing artists; navigating ?the complex relationship between the city and the countryside by investigating the place the rural world occupies in the projections, fantasies, economy, and antagonism of the cosmopolitan set.? We will apply the tools of contemporary social practice toward shifting beyond the critiques, illusions and prejudices that have supported city and country as disconnected realms of shared experience.
